Nestled between Mitredale Fell and Muncaster Fell The Bower House Inn is a charming old coaching inn that dates back to 1761. For over 250 years the Hotel has welcomed guests who have travelled to Eskdale to sample the delights of one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District. Just a little way from Scarfell England's highest mountain and Waswater which boasts the most stunning vista in the UK Eskdale has lots more to offer than one would initially think. The Eskdale and Muncaster Steam Railway, Muncaster Castle, one of the country's few replicas of an 19th Century Japanese Garden, Roman ruins, some beautiful beaches not to mention the renown Eskdale Golf course. The area boasts some of the best fishing in Lakes and you can spend many a restful hour beside the banks of numerous rivers.
